The last time I posted on this blog was a LONG time ago although it doesn't really feel like it. I have not been doing a very brilliant job at keeping in touch with people since I got here, except with my mum and close friends, and am so glad to finally have the time to do it.
I posted last on February and the reason is not a new one; I got real busy. Fortunately, I started working 16 hours a week in the middle of February until the end of the semester (April). So, that along with classes, studying and gym squeezed in between "when possible" took all of my time. Then, I was finishing papers and preparing for exams while looking for a place to stay off-campus as I had to be out of Rez by the end of April. Thankfully, I got grades to be proud of :) and found a great place to stay. However, along with all of that I was witnessing seasons for the first time and taking time out to spend with each one. So, below is a look at fall, winter and spring on campus.
I will admit that the toughest thing about winter for me were the short days. Being used to it being daytime for a good portion of the day, it was a real challenge to get up at 7 am with it dark outside and getting out of class at 5 pm with it dark as well. I was the worst with saving energy as I would leave all my lamps switched on for the whole day. Back home, sunrise and sunset approximately coincide with the time of the day which caused a problem for me here, because when it'd be dark outside I would put things off for the next day, thinking it is close to bed time, but I overcame that! Another thing was dressing for w inter. I did not do a very good job there either :p it would be difficult to predict how cold it was outside, but I managed and now that I have seen that I will be getting my summer, I don't mind doing it all again because there is nothing more beautiful than seasons and nature which is one of the reasons I wanted to get out of the Gulf.
After getting settled in my new place, waiting for my off-campus work permit to come through the mail while looking for jobs took a good chunk of my time and then SUMMER was here. For a while I really thought that there is no summer in Toronto, but it finally came and is here to stay for another 2 months :) The reason I mention the arrival of a season is that it also took a lot of my time. Summer in Canada is wonderful that I am just out all the time. It is just a shame to sit in here when it is green and sunny outside, knowing that it’ll be gone soon.
FALL
This is on campus. I decided to go for a walk before class :) The steps lead to Glendon Hall.
I have walked through here every morning going to the cafe to get my breakfast, lunch and go to class.
I was so thrilled about the snow, I was waiting for it anxiously. I just think that if it is going to be that cold, it might as well be pretty with snow otherwise it is dull.
