Star Water Fountain

Last weekend as we were heading to our cars at festival city, we spotted this water fountain. It is quite small, but very attractive; shaped as a star. Ammar and I got excited and decided that we are brave enough to stand right in the middle. Well, we only really stood there until Ammar had just enough water on all the back of his shirt, nicely keeping it away from me :) and a security man asked us to leave! Both of us had squishy soaked shoes at the end of the show :p

Still Alive :)

So I have been out of the loop for quite a while (a month or so) in the blog world. Just so that you know, I’m still alive and very active in the physical world, which has been giving me a lot less of time for the blog sphere. The people who have been recently getting lots of my forwards, as a digital signifier of my existence, know by now that I’m still alive, but just in case you are wondering where I have been and what I’ve been up to, here’s a little outline of what’s been happening during the past busy eventful month.

Razan's and Fares' Engagement Party- Friday, July 3, 2009

"THE" event for the month of July was Razan's and Fares' engagement party.

Fares' parents were in town and so was dad, so they decided that an engagement party is due. A lot of preparation went for this one as well, a whole week of anxiousness and enthusiasim until it was finally done, and with success.

Razan looked the most beautiful, with handsome Fares by her side. And all worked out very well for the night. Everyone was feeling euphoric and looking their best.

Although, one thing that was missing that night was mum, Razan and I dearly wished she was there, nothing could have made her more happy. As for me, again I felt fortunate for being there by Razan's side.

Beautiful

Fares surprised her that night with a necklace and pair of earrings.

Delicious food was served with some singing and belly dancing for entertainment...should have satisfied all parties. :p

International Music Festival and my highlight for the day

With dear mum always being upto date with all the musical events happening here, I got an email from her about this event which took place in Madinat Jumireh. And you always say enough to get us there by mentioning Dubai Drums.

As you can see my highlight for that day was the haircut I got done, before getting there :D so I was super happy.

So you know us, being ALWAYS very *prompt* with our timings, we made it fairly early there, giving us a handful of time to take the following random snapshots.

Some of us were hungry, with still much time, we made it to Dome cafe for some food.

A very intense political/social discussion took place...yes Malik?!

we were all into the discussion, the waiteress kept coming back and forth, asking if we decided on the order yet.

The show begins

Dubai Drums started off inside and drummed their way to the amphitheatre. Other bands were stationed inside...those two were good. Although the band on the left had more crowd just because they are white!! It is typical given that we were in Jumiereh.

Here is the amphitheatre that Dubai Drums were heading to and here is us anxiously waiting for them. So I had no idea that it was going to be "outdoors" literally everyone was cursing at the weather and running inside, back and forth for water and tissue. It was hilarious, especially the guys, given that they tend to sweat a lot more.

I just made my way to the drums :) lol... way too hot hmm ? I think they were giving me a "you're going to pay for this" look.

I love my drum!

but some people were busy with something else :p

Here they come....

happily drumming then clapping

End of the show, getting some cool air indoors.

Razan's Birthday

Back in U.A.E. and a week in hand to plan Razan’s birthday as I get a call from Fares from some brainstorming sessions. It took a little bit of telephone calls, sms’s, research and a booking.
Settled with Cactus Jack, a Mexican restaurant, in Millineum Airport Hotel.

Thank fully, all worked out as planned, at the best of our abilities, and it was a good night out.

Adorable picture

We actually had two cakes that night :) yummy!!

The most important of all, is that Razan had a good time as much as we all did. She turned 24 on the 14th of June.

As usual, we had our funny moments and stories to tell, here is one picture of some craziness for the night.

Cactus Jack crew were delighted to sing along and bring us a complimentary cake!

Syria 06-09

A travel to Syria came up, and certainly in perfect timing. Out of all of my visits to Aleppo, that I can recall, by far this was the most memorable and best of all. I stayed over at Nana’s place as always and had a good time.

This is only but one of the MANY delicious dishes Nana made. I got a picture of this one, for there is a saying one how Aleppo is best known for Kebba. And believe me Nana's would top the best in Aleppo ;) God bless her. We had a very good time together this visit.

The one of the street is one I've been wanting to take fore long, a reminder of the things I notice during my walks.

I stayed in Aleppo the first 2 days, but the rest of the stay was bound to be in Kert.
Middle of June and Kert was blowing with cold winds day and night and to my luck I had the moon in sight when I went to bed, every night.

On our way there...Syria's glorious lands.

Here are some pictures in Kert. I felt fresh, I had a clear mind to think and enjoy life with; to just be. I went for walks mornings and evenings, and had another read of Paolo Coelho’s Valkyires which helped reinforce the positive energy of nature.

:p and I found out that I can pose!

And here is my ideal horizon; nature to infinitely be mesmerized by, to take some wisdom and thank God for this bounfitful earth.

Ah yes, so part of my looking at the horizon happened on the roof. The wind was so strong, I can't remember tying my hair once. I managed to get a picture here, the water tank came in handy.

This is the train that I haven't been on yet, will do soon though. You can't see it from Kert, I took this picture on the way back.

Too see all the pictures, here is the link to the album: http://picasaweb.google.com/rama.isaac/Syria0609?feat=directlink
